8.3.3 Wings
The wingtips are made of fiberglass, as is the front part of the cowling (engine
cowling).
Normally the rest of the wing is made of light metal.
Here you can see something of a wing.
Note that the frames are not
solid, but that holes have
been cut in them. These holes
have been refurbished and
have a conical opening which
makes them more rigid.
This achieves greater rigidity in the structure, and at the same time the structure
is lighter.
The main spar goes from one wing through the cabin and out into the other wing.
The strength of the wing lies in the main beam.
There is also a spar further back on the wing, where the ailerons and flaps are
attached.
In addition, a torsion nose is formed on the leading edge of the profile, which
gives the structure rigidity and strength.
