                8.3.5.3 Hydraulic brakes

A little further up the page you could

see a picture of the pedals, which are

connected to both the rudder and in

most cases also the nose wheel.

In addition to this, the aircraft's main

                wheels may be equipped with

hydraulic brakes, which are operated via the pedals.

If the brake feels springy, it may be due to air in the system.

If the pedal can go almost to the bottom or has to be pumped before braking
effect is achieved, it may be due to a lack of hydraulic fluid.

Use the correct type if topping up. Possibly MIL-H-5606, which is the most

                commonly used hydraulic fluid.

8.3.6 The aircraft's axes and primary control surfaces

There are 3 fixed axes throughout the aircraft that follow the aircraft in its

                maneuvers.

                They are:

                 - The longitudinal axis

                 - The lateral axis

                 - The normal axis (vertical

                    axis)
