SURFING

Olympics & WSL

News Update

Of course, we all know the Olympics have been severely affected by
the pandemic and, as we reported last month, Surfing was included
in the casualty list.

The good news is, the WSL and ISA have announced that the event
will be held prior to Summer 2021 in Tokyo. Understandably, when
the virus has subsided enough for it to be held. We will watch that
and bring you further updates as it happens.

Also in the Olympic news is the decision to move the surfing event
for the Paris 2024 Olympics to Tahiti. The decision was made
primarily because of the uncertainty of waves on the French coast.
(Personally, Biarritz and Hossegar come to mind as past profession-
al surfing venues but who am I?)

Finally, it is hoped this years WSL events will continue from 6th
June 2020 following a three month Coronavirus sabatical. Again,
more to come.
