The Car

The second injector was blowing carbon everywhere so I
decided to replace that and the copper injector washers with
new ones. I decided to tackle the front disks and pads first as I
thought it would be the easiest of the big jobs. Got the driver’s
        side done without any problems. I thought I was onto a winner;
boy was I wrong. The little guide bolt that locates the disk to the
wheel bearing was stripped, now what? Out came the drill, I
drilled and drilled to try and get this guide bolt out but the bolt
was winning. To save a hair pulling moment, I left it for another
day and now moved on to tackle the rear pads and brakes.

The driver’s side again failed to cause any problems. It was near-
ing closing time so I thought I’d leave it there and continue with
the far side when I returned to work on Monday morning, little
realising that Monday would be the start of the lockdown here
in Ireland. So there sits my car half stripped, half replaced for
the foreseeable future. I ask myself what I have learnt from this
experience? Don’t buy a car when there’s a great possibility that
you’ll be going into lockdown before you can finish the planned
and unplanned work on said car. When this lockdown is lifted, I
will hopefully come out victorious and have a running car. Until
then, I think the car remains one up on me.

        LOCAL SHOUT OUT

OK, so before I get to giving the shout-out… let me say,
we are more than willing to give any small business af-
fected by this vile beer-bug a bit of free publicity – just
send us brief details – and your weblinks! Keep it nice
        – keep it brief… we’re here to spread friendship… and
help in our own small way!

So, who am I targeting for my first local shout-out? Pe-
ter at Compudoc. Compudoc is a local technology spot
        – supporting those who want to acquire new or used
hardware. They also provide a repair service. It was this
service I desperately needed during this silly season.

Peter is working behind closed doors and promptly re-
sponded to my voice message, advising me to leave the
non-functioning laptop in for repairs. Needless-to-say
        – this magazine man is highly dependent on the use of
his laptop so it was rather refreshing to get a call later
the same day – to collect said laptop! Said repaired and
        fully operational laptop!

Thanks Peter… your help is invaluable to many – keep
up the great work! Visit the website for more informa-
        tion http://compudoc.ie/
