             When discussing “martial arts” many
forget the literal meaning which is
“arts of war”. Originally these were
             systemized techniques that spelled
the difference between life and dea-
th on the battlefield. The concepts
of fair play, points, or sportsmanship
were not even remotely considered in
             some cultures.

             As military advances were developed,
             the defenses against them progres-
sed as well. The 20th Century was no By:
different. In fact the 1970’s and 80’s
in Korea saw a decidedly different
approach to modern warfare. It began Master
with a man name Park No-Won. Park
was born in Iksan, South Korea on Guy
April 19th, 1956. The young boy quic-
kly showed an aptitude for athletics
             and throughout elementary school Edward
competed in track and field events.
In addition he started practicing Tae- Larke
kwondo at the age of nine alongside
his uncles who were close in age to
him. He was enthralled with it.
