congestion. Note the left lung is diffusely dark red and right lung is diffusely pale pink. In this case it appears
that the body was placed on the left side after death and blood has pooled by gravity in the dependent
lung. This should be differentiated from inflammation or congestion by gently palpating the lungs to detect
