Nadia vassou is the oldest of two daughters and her younger
sister, Anjali is her biggest fan. Her parents said, “we could not
be prouder of Nadia’s accomplishments, and we look forward to
seeing how far she will soar at the united States Naval Academy.”
Nadia graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in ocala,
florida. There she was part of the Trinity Catholic band, where
she was drum major her senior year. Additionally, she was on
the Cross Country and Track & field Teams, participated in many
service clubs, and is an active member of her church. Nadia was
blessed to have been able to take dual enrollment classes with
Embry-Riddle. The classes she took introduced her to the world of
aeronautics and inspired her to consider possibilities that she never
dreamed of for her future.
Military life was never part of Nadia’s plans until she visited Rhode
Island with her family to celebrate her uncle, Ryan kaufman, as he
completed the Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Navy. It was
after the graduation ceremony that she realized that the Navy was
the path that God had set for her. It was shortly after that trip that
she began the journey for admission to uSNA. Nadia has shared
that Plebe Summer was a humbling experience. Not being raised
in a military family, she had the privilege of learning the history
and traditions of the united States
Navy. After a short amount of time,
uSNA has inspired Nadia to take on any
challenge, take great pride in working
with a team, and to celebrate the ability
to serve our great nation.
As a new family to uSNA, Nadia’s
parents said, “we are so thankful
to know that our daughter is in an
environment where she can develop
morally, mentally, and physically. Go
Navy, beat Army!”
