Method of Meeting Lives
By Peter Pan*
There are many cultures and backgrounds in the world; in other words,
there are various kinds of lives. So maybe we can say one’s life as a world
since it would be a way of facing the outside. And this is the story of a girl who
met another world.
Wendy is a little adorable 6-year-old girl who lives in Tokyo. She loves to
hang out with her friends, and she has a bright laugh which her family and
friends love. One day, her family moved on to Chicago, United States, because
her father decided to enter a graduate school. Thus, she had to say goodbye
to her friends for one year. She was excited since it was her first time visiting
the U.S. in her life. When she arrived home in Chicago, it was winter, and there

mother asked her if it is okay to go to school in Chicago, and she brightly

Several weeks later, on the first day of school came Wendy. She was nervous
with a new teacher and new friends; however, her heart fluttered

would be a fantastic year in Chicago. Ms. Gain was kind and gentle. For
example, she waited for Wendy to talk in English even though it was slow.
Thanks to Ms. Gain, Wendy could get used to her changed environment, and
there were many friends in the classroom. But, Lucy, who watched the whole
process that Wendy adjusted to school life, got displeased with the situation.
Therefore, one day, Lucy came to Wendy and told her, “Your English is weird.
Think before you speak.” After her words, Wendy starts to worry about her
