On 16  August, 2016, Delhi Public School in

                                                                collaboration  with  Spicmacay  organised  a
                                                                concert wherein the world renowned flautist,
                                                                Pandit  Shri  Hariprasad  Chaurasia  ji  was
                                                                invited  to  perform.  A  Padma  Vibhushan
                                                                awardee, Panditji is a master of his art and is
                                                                known  for  popularising  Indian  classical
                                                                music around the world.




                          Inaugural Ceremony

            A huge crowd of enthusiastic students not only
           from DPS but from other schools like Kendriya
           Vidyalaya,  Yashasvi  Vidyanikethan  were
           present to see  the legend  perform.  In  prelude
           to the recital by Panditji, Nidhi Shenoy sang a
           Hindustani classical song.


           His first performance was in “Jayanta raag “and      The  enthralling performance by Panditji
           the second one in “Hamsa Dhwani raag”. He was
           accompanied by Pandit Shri Rajesh who played
           the flute and Pandit Shri Vijay on the tabla. The
           entire crowd watched with awe as these legends
           showcased  their  skills  and  proved  to  be  a  great
           inspiration for aspiring musicians.

           A  mesmerising  performance was  followed  by
           a  question  answer  session.  He  asked  the
           students  about  the  genre  they  preferred
           following which he told them that there is no
           reason  “why”  a  person  learns;  he  learns
           because he is devoted and loves the art form.

           Lightening  up  the  mood,  he  answered  many
           questions asked by the students.                      He  adds  that  even  at  this  age,  he  is  still
                                                                learning  from  his  old  and  young  students;
           Panditji said that he believes in learning, the      still  feels  nervous  before  any  performance
           more  one  learns  the  more  powerful  and          even after almost 5 decades of experience.

                                                                Lastly  Panditji  said  that  students,  while
                                                                trying to excel in their academics should also
                                                                be passionate about hobbies of their liking.
