It was hot in Madras, and I ended up with a
heat stroke, which kept me bedridden in a
motel for a couple of days.

On my 21 birthday, we decided to enjoy a
meal before taking a bus at midnight for a
ride south, to catch the ferry that would take
us to Sri Lanka.
We had planned on sleeping in the bus, not
remembering that these buses do NOT have
shock absorbers. It was a sleepless, long,
rough ride.
No problem: we thought we would sleep on
the ferry. That did not happen: there was
standing room only.
