Before leaving Sri Lanka, I took a bus tour to

Matara, at the southern tip of the island,

where I was surprised to hear a group of
young people speaking Swiss German at the

Youth Hostel. It was nice to meet some

expats there.

I also had the
opportunity to do some

snorkeling.

Although I had planned
on traveling around the world, I had to fly

back to Switzerland, from Sri Lanka, to have

another double knee surgery (I had the first
one at age 13).

I spent a few months recovering, and worked

at a chocolate decoration company. I was
offered a job as the chocolate sales’ rep for

the company in Washington D.C.
