“ But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of
every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is
the head of Christ.”

What does it really mean that the head of every Christian
husband is Christ? It means that the husband’s responsibility
is to represent Jesus’ nature and purpose in his home.
He is not to be spiritually passive in guiding his family -
consumed with his work place or consumed with domestic
details. He is to encourage his family in the service of the
Lord. His family needs to see that Christ is first in his life.
Oh, the value of a godly husband and father who provides a
spiritual covering for the home!
The husband is to make sure that his family is operating
under their spiritual coverings - the covering of the Father,
the Son and Spirit, the covering of the Word of God, the
righteousness of Christ and the local church.
When a wife is filled with the Spirit, she loves her husband
submittingly. Submission is one equal voluntarily placing
himself or herself under another equal, that God may
be glorified. How is a woman going to learn the spirit of
submission to God’s appointed head of the home? Only by
being filled with the Holy Spirit of God. It’s natural for her
to fight, nag and argue. It’s supernatural for her to respect
and submit.
But God has a tougher assignment for the husbands.
“Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church
and sacrificed his life for her...” (Ephesians 5:25). How can
a husband love his wife as Christ loved the church? Only
when he is filled with the Holy Spirit. When a husband is
