Art That Cannot Conceive Being Cut Off From The
Working Class And The People
In the evening of Monday 3 February, in the culture centre
in the basement of the DirenKazova-DIH store, the Ezgi Bakcay
art seminar group held a seminar together with the Kazova work-
ers, on art, politics and resistance ties.
The education seminar both gave Kazova workers the oppor-
tunity to describe their resistance personally, and it was also an
opportunity to describe how ties with artists could be developed
during a process of resistance.
The seminar, which started at 7 pm, was opened by Ezgi Bak-
cay, who said we would be discussing a new definition of political
art and culture. She described how the Kazova workers started
their resistance. The lawyer Behic Asci and workers described the
various stages reached in the resistance as well as events that oc-
curred.
The Kazova art and culture committee said they would soon
announce a programme of coming events. The Kazova workers
promised to do more to ensure that their voices were heard.
The Kazova Workers At The Side Of The Greif Workers
The Greif factory workers, who are members of DISK/Tekstil
(Textile) trade union and who manufacture baggy trousers in Is-
tanbul Hadimkoy and Dudullu occupied their Hadimkoy factory
on Monday 9 February after negotiations on collective bargaining
reached deadlock – they drove the private security from the fac-
