change Holiday Greetings
Kazova textile workers, who were thrown out of work on 31
January 2013 and who started resistance on 27 February, organ-
ised a ceremony to exchange holiday greetings on Sunday 11 Au-
gust 2013. About 100 people took part and showed they were not
bitter but hopeful, determined and persistent, towards both friend
and enemy. The ceremony started at 3 pm with Bulent Unal ex-
plaining all that had happened since they were thrown out of
work. He also described the struggle as it happened up to the pres-
ent, how it had been developed, and how the bosses and the sys-
tem forces acting at their beck and call had assaulted the workers.
Bulent Unal also described Bedas and the attacks by civilian fas-
cists. But he added that the resistance had not been broken and
in fact it had helped them know both friends and enemies, then
he gave the floor to the singer Ibrahim Karaca. Ibrahim Karaca is
a singer involved with the art of the people, dealing with their
pain, problems and resistance, and the necessity of describing
them, and he dedicated his songs to the resisting Kazova textile
workers.
After Ibrahim Karaca, the lawyer Behic ASCI of the DIH law
commission spoke and said that the resistance was not simply a
matter of a claim by the workers. It was a struggle of two ideologies,
two moralities and two cultures, he said, one being the ideology
of the system and the bosses police, judges, Bedas and civilian fas-
cists on the one hand, and resisting workers and the people on
the other. Behic Asci described the aid and solidarity of the people
that helped to boost the resistance, and said it was necessary for
the resistance to win. Asci said those who resist will definitely win,
