workers occupying the factory during an action, and described
how they sought to get what they claimed by resuming production.
He said this was the second such occupation of a factory in Turkey
and gave examples of how the action of continuing production
changed people.

Kazova Textile Workers Took Part In A Forum In Ku-
cukarmutlu

The Kazova workers who have resisted for 172 days for their
rights and honour took part in a forum in Kucukarmutlu at 7 in
the evening on 18 August 2013. For years Kucukarmutlu has been
under threat of being torn down. Now the Urban Transformation

introduced by the AKP against the people also made Kucukar-
mutlu a target of major attacks. Kucukarmutlu was declared to be
a disaster area on account of its one storey buildings in a rocky
area. But while calling it a disaster area, the AKP had nothing to
say about Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which is nearby. This is
why the basic subject of the forum in Kucukarmutlu was the mat-
ter of demolition. What demolition meant and how to resist it
was the main topic of discussion. The lawyer Aycan Cicek from
the CHD (Contemporary Lawyers’ Association) commission on

house demolition described the meaning of the AKP’s demolition
programme. Then it was time for questions. Questions from the
people were answered one by one.

After Aycan Cicek, the artist Feyyaz Yaman described why it
was necessary to support and defend peoples’ homes and neigh-
bourhoods, and talked of the responsibility of artists in this re-
gard.
