changed information with the Kazova workers by telephone.

Kazova Workers Continue Their Struggle

On Wednesday 28 August, the 180th day of their resistance,

the Kazova workers did what they have been doing every Wednes-
day. The lawyer Taylan Tanay and Berna Yilmaz of the DIH were
in jail, and as they had been removed from their work for DISK
and Genel-Is union, the workers joined an action in front the
DISK building, and at 2 pm they started to march from there.
“WE ARE ON HUNGER STRIKE UNTIL WE GET OUT
RIGHTS FROM THE BOSSES THE SOMUNCU FAMILY
WHO HAVE TAKEN AWAY THE FRUITS OF OUR

LABOUR” was on the banner they opened, and they chanted the
slogan “We don’t want charity, we want our rights, we won’t let
Umit Somuncu take away our rights, we are workers, we are right,
we will win” as they marched to the resistance tent in Bomonti.
Then they made a speech:

“They said they have resisted and struggled for 180 days but
their bosses have still failed to show up. They stressed they would

resist until they got the last penny of their rights,” emphasising
their determination.

Visits To The Kazova Resistance Tent Continue

Visits to the Kazova workers, who have been resisting since
the end of January, are continuing. One of the latest visitors is the
trade unionist Volkan Yarasir. Volkan Yarasir has written various
books and pamphlets about the trade union struggle, and has writ-
ten that the Kazova resistance is “… a turning point in the history
