                                    From our Team Coordinator

The new year has traditionally been a time for new beginnings and re-starts; a time to re-energize and
re-focus. It is a time for taking on challenges and dusting off can do attitudes. And so here we are in
January 2022 with a whole year ahead of us. Has your chorus or quartet developed plans? What will you
focus on? What will you put your energy into? Will it be gaining new members? Are you participating
in contest? Will you learn new songs? Everything we take on will include safe rehearsal practices and
the care and well being of our members. I encourage you to take on 2022 with care, kindness, respect
and love. Get involved and give your 100%. It takes all of us to keep the chords ringing, keep you group
         singing.

Its that time of year! I am guessing that phrase draws several different emotions from each of you. And
several different scenarios as to what is happening. Many of you are preparing for the traditional in
person Sweet Adeline contest; many of you are preparing for a video submission as part of the Sweet
Adeline contest. Some of you are focusing on being together in person with your chorus or quartet and
making plans for 2022. Whatever and wherever you are focused – it’s that time of year!

We should all be focusing on re-establishing our vocal health and stamina; making plans for 2022 – will
it be a membership drive, a cabaret or a holiday show – maybe all three! And we all need to support one
another while establishing our new normal.

How can you be sure what you are doing is the right thing?
S – Smile; a smile lets someone know you are glad they are here and they can count on you for
              for support and care
U – Understand; listen and really hear what someone is saying, make no assumptions about how they
              are feeling
R – Respect; we may not all agree on the best course of action or how we feel about something but
what we can do is respect each other; we are individuals and yet members together
E – Embolden; reassure and inspire one another; encourage each other to move forward – each of us
moving at the pace that is right for us

Its that time of year! Yes it is, time for growth and hope, warm sunshine and flowers and yes time for
         contest!

         From author Vern McLellan:

What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.
