events will generally take place between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. All SCPA/SASL regular
full-time instructors may be required to be present at Saturday tutoring sessions, and weekday
afternoons. From time to time, professional development training will be scheduled for after school
hours.
ATTIRE
The image that we portray to both students and parents enables us to be effective and respected
educators. The staff is expected to wear the complete, business/professional attire or you have the
option to wear uniform designated by the school. Uniform shirts are available for purchase from
Aztec Graphix. Employees shall wear professional/business attire (excessively revealing or tight
clothing are not permitted). On Fridays, administration reserves the right to permit employees a
dress-down day, at which point business casual attire, including jeans and college/class/club/spirit
shirts, are appropriate.
If you are uncertain regarding the appropriateness of a particular item of clothing, please confirm
with administration prior to wearing the outfit. Non-compliance with the dress code will be
considered a contract violation.
CAFETERIA PROCEDURES
Lunch is a 50-minute block at SCPA and a 30 minute block at SASL. Due to the amount of students
we have on campus, instructors must adhere strictly to the assigned lunch time/lunch duty.
Cafeteria workers and aides should be treated with courtesy and respect. Instructors should
emphasize this frequently to students, while setting an example. Students are to walk, not run, in the
lunch line/cafeteria, as well as everywhere in the building and on school grounds. All teachers
assigned to lunch duty are to report in a timely fashion. If you are unable to meet your duty
requirements, you need to make arrangements for coverage. It is a contract violation to leave a
duty post unattended.
SCPA only: Due to the size of the cafeteria space, it may be necessary for student on that campus to
utilize empty classroom space during lunches in the event of inclement weather. Instructors are asked
to be flexible.
SASL only: Students must remain in the cafeteria for lunch.
CALENDAR
SCPA/SASL will adhere to the Saint Lucie County School System’s schedules regarding starting and
ending dates for the academic school year, spring and winter breaks, days off, hurricane days, and legal
holidays, with the exception of pre-school week. SCPA/SASL may also follow the teacher planning and
Early Release Day schedules. Regular full-time salaried instructional employees are hired on a 201-day,
eight (8) hours per day contract unless specified otherwise. In addition the St. Lucie County Public
Schools Calendar, SCPA/SASL has an official school calendar, which must reflect all student-related
activities taking place in or outside of the school. All events, including fund-raisers, must be pre-
approved by the administration in order to be placed on the calendar at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
