5. OUR SHARED COMMUNITIES: INTERNAL AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
The three organizations have a rich history of community engagement. In developing their most recent
strategic plans, the communities served by each organization encouraged all three of us to continually
seek patients, family members and the broader public’s input into any changes, enhancements to care
and future direction planning so they could co-design their care. Similarly, physicians, researchers, staff
and volunteers equally want an opportunity to help design the future of the organizations in which they
work.
In parallel to the development of this proposal for voluntary integration, the Joint Board Steering
Committee and management from all three organizations designed a multi-phased community and
internal engagement plan. Building off the Toronto Central LHIN community engagement principles, the
goals of this engagement are to:
inform and educate all stakeholders about the organizations’ intention to integrate
build commitment and support for integration
listen and collect feedback on benefits and challenges the organizations need to consider as part
of their integration planning.
