WOMEN GETTING

                   W.I.S.E.

I Before we get started on how to get W.I.S.E., let’s review why getting W.I.S.E. is important.
want to help you get W.I.S.E. – Wealthy, Independent, Secure and Educated. Financial stress is a major concern for women in
good times and bad. Learning about personal finances is vital to surviving and thriving through the ups and downs.

         WOMEN TEND TO:
             • Earn less compared to men and often save less,
             • Feel greater negative financial and emotional impact as a result of divorce,
             • Live longer compared to men and need more wealth or savings as a result
               of a longer lifespan,
             • Be the primary caregivers for family and tend to take more time off work
               or work reduced hours,
             • Let saving for the future fall down the priority ladder.

According to Kerri Hannon, personal finance expert, 90% of women will have
to manage their finances alone and be the sole financial decision-maker at
some point in their lifetime due to death or divorce or by choice. It may come
as a nasty surprise but the average age of widowhood in Canada is just 56.
What would happen if your spouse passed away tomorrow? Or you got
divorced? Or you became seriously ill?

Would you be able to pay your bills and be comfortable
overseeing your savings and investments? Would you
know where all the important documents are?
My life was turned upside down when I
got divorced. Could I afford to stay in our
matrimonial home? Would I still be able
to save for retirement and my girls’
educations? Would I be okay? I had
to make a lot of BIG decisions that
were difficult to make but I had
a clear picture of my finances,
         which made it easier.
           Here’s what every woman
needs to know to get W.I.S.E.
