            Abstract:

The authors correlated contrast-enhanced spinal MRA findings and

catheter spinal angiographic findings in spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas

(SDAVFs) for a better understanding and characterization of this kind of spinal

vascular disease. There were visually enlarged and tortuous intradural vessels

in midline location, which represented the dilated perimedullary veins. The

fistulous site of the dural shunt appeared to be a prominent or enlarged

vascular channel at the foraminal level or just medial to the pedicle with a

contiguous ascending vessel, running toward the tortuous perimedullary veins.

These observed characters could more or less play an important role in shunt

localization in cases of SDAVFs, facilitating further catheter spinal angiogram

            and patient management.
