Background and Objectives: Stroke is a common neurological disorder and
becoming a major health burden in the world. It is the leading cause of death
and long term disability. Rehabilitation program has shown to improve short
term physical outcome. Disability may persist for life and limit independence
and quality of life. Home-rehabilitation program would be able to improve the
activity of daily livings and function, decrease disability and increase quality of
life. The study intended to compare a functioning ability and a quality of life of
post-stroke patients after discharge from hospital between home-rehabilitation
and usual care.
Methods: A secondary analysis of a collaborative systematic review of all
randomized control trials (RCTs) that compared home-rehabilitation with those
of usual care by searching from Pubmed database online during 2009-2013.
Data was available for at least 1 trial; 60 patients. The data was extracted from
1 trial, chosen by the independently assessed quality method from a total of
133 trials.
