of both RT and no-RT group, RT longer FU group (>5 years) had more impaired
visual and verbal memory index, Verbal IQ (VIQ) and FIQ than the other 3
groups i.e. 1.no-RT longer FU, 2.RT shorter FU and 3. no-RT shorter FU (memory
index score : 62 vs 74.2 vs 77.1 vs 82.8 , 51.7 vs 76.5 vs 74.4 vs 87, IQ score :
65.9 vs 75.9 vs 74.3 vs 80.8, and 62.1 vs 72 vs 70 vs 78.5, respectively). In
addition, working memory was severely impaired in RT longer FU group but
was normal in RT shorter FU group (mean index score: 68.75 vs 99.42
respectively).
Conclusion: Our pediatric supratentorial brain tumor survivors particularly in
radiated group had specific memory dysfunction. The longer FU group had
more extensive memory impairment than shorter FU group. The result of study
implied that memory function promoting modalities should be considered
early and specifically for such impairment in this group of patients. Future brain
tumor treatment should be designed for memory dysfunction prevention in
children.
