                                                                    Ministry of Public Healh, Bangkok,Thailand

Objectives: To evaluate and compare retinal nerve fiber layer thickness

(RNFLT), macula volume and macular thickness in neuromyelitisoptica (NMO),

neuromyelitisoptica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), relapsing-remitting multiple

sclerosis (RRMS), and normal healthy control using optical coherence

            tomography (OCT).

Methods: The cross sectional, analytic study of Prasat Neurological Institute

patients whose the diagnostic criteria of NMO, NMOSD and 2010 MS McDonald

criteria were met and OCT data were available. The healthy control subjects

were medical personels in the hospital. The RNFL and macular volume were

            compared among each group.

Results: Total 111 subjects were included: NMO;40, NMOSD;30, RRMS;10, and

normal healthy control;31. The RNFLT, macular volume and macular thickness

were significantly different between NMO, NMOSD, RRMS and control group.

RNFL thickness in NMO group (77.00 µm.) was lower significantly when

compare with NMOSD (103.00 µm.,p<0.005), RRMS (104.00 µm., p<0.005), and

control group (106.00 µm., p<0.005). Macular volume and macular thickness in

NMO group were lower significantly when compare with NMOSD and control
