Risk Factors for Wearing-off Phenomenon in Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease

Objectives: To study risk factors that associated with wearing off phenomenon
in Parkinson’s disease.
Methods: Retrospective study of patients who were valuated at Prasat
Neurological Institute abnormal movement clinic during January, 2013-August,
2014 and were diagnosed as idiopathic Parkinson’s disease was performed.
Patient characteristics, details of treatment and motor fluctuation
complications base on wearing off questionnaire 9 (WOQ 9) were corrected
and analyzed.
Results: A total of 90 patients were included in the study. Thirty eight (42.2%)
patients were women. Mean age was 60.6 years (36-84 years; SD 10.3). Mean
age at onset was 47.6 years (36-84 years; SD 19.3). Seventy three patients (81%)
developed complications, which were wearing off, from the complete WOQ 9
questionnaire the motor symptom were tremor (57%), slowness (54%),
reduced dexterity (39%),stiffness (40%) and muscle cramping (41%). The non-
motor symptom included cloudy/slow thinking (24.4%), pain (42.2%), mood
changes (27.8%) and anxiety (23.3%). Factors associated with wearing off
