dosage of LEV were found to be significantly associated to depression.
However only female, social security (financial tiers), LEV dose of 750-1000 mg
per day, and epilepsy risk factors such as stroke, tumors, and central nervous
system (CNS) infection were significant features related to depression with
multivariable analysis.
Conclusions: Demographic and epilepsy characteristics as well as dosage are
factors, predicting depression in epileptic patients who are taking LEV
monotherapy. Considering these factors before choosing AED might help to
reduce frequency of depression in patients with epilepsy.
