QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS!

            Truth to Teach (Source)

Mark 10:51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked Bartimaeus.

 Jesus often asked people questions to find out what they were thinking or
                    what they wanted from him.

 We ask questions to find out more about God’s world and about people we
                    meet.

 Questions end with question marks.

            Way to Work (Means)

                1. Review the previous lesson.

                2. Remind the children about being ‘Punctuation Detectives’. Let them detect
punctuation signs and capital letters missing from various sentences on the

                    board.

                3. Put words such as where, what, why, who, when and how on the board and ask
the children what kind of sentences begin with these words. Which punctuation

sign is needed at the end of the sentences? Let the children suggest
sentences beginning with each of them so that they can be written on the
                    board with the punctuation sign.

                4. Show a magnifying glass. Explain that detectives look at, and listen for, things
carefully. Ask the children to put up their hand when they hear the questions
                    in the following passages:-

                           Genesis 3:8-9 Luke 9:18-20 Mark 4:38-40

                5. Talk about question marks coming before speech marks, e.g. “How are you?”
                    she said.

                6. Go through the worksheet with the children and/or let them write their own
questions they would like to ask, e.g. Jesus, the Queen, a famous footballer, a
