Y4 Autumn Term. Part 1 CW Lesson 5

                                            REMEMBER PUNCTUATION

                Truth to Teach (Source)

Psalm 111:4 ‘He (God) has caused his wonders to be remembered; …’

Proverbs 3:1 ‘My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands
in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and

                                         bring you prosperity.’

 Good, wholesome teaching should be remembered and must often therefore
                       be revised.

 Punctuation brings order to the spoken and written word.

 Review of Y3 teaching on punctuation.

            Way to Work (Means)

                1. Draw a full stop, exclamation mark, question mark, comma, apostrophe and
speech marks on the board. Ask the children when we use each of them in our

                    writing.

                2. Re-envision them on the importance of punctuation which brings order to
                    spoken and written English.

                3. Let the children try punctuating the passage on the worksheet.

                4. Gather back to go through the passage together letting the children add any
punctuation marks which they have missed.

            Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

                1. The children should be increasingly confident in using a number of punctuation

                    signs.
