Adjectives which are opposites
Adjectives can sometimes be made from nouns.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review the previous lesson.
2. Have a number of adjectives pinned up around the room for the children to
write the opposites in their books (see separate sheet).
3. Gather back to share results.
4. Explain that adjectives can sometimes be made from nouns, e.g. fur – furry,
wind – windy, fog – foggy, fun – funny.
5. Give the children the worksheet with different shaped objects on it for them
to write adjectives.
6. Gather back to share ideas.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. The children should be increasingly aware of the vast number of adjectives
available to use to improve their writing.
2. They should realise that adjectives can sometimes be made from nouns.
