Science Y1 – Animal movement – week 4
FASCINATING FACTS
Truth to Teach (Source)
To share some extraordinary feats of animal movement and to wonder at
God’s wisdom in making things so, His pleasure in what He has made and His
knowledge and involvement in it all.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Select an area to study within the above context. For example:
• Bird migration
• The fastest-moving creatures on land, and in the air and in the
sea and then slow-moving creatures. Incidentally man would
not come among the front runners of the fastest moving
creatures; his strengths lie elsewhere. (spiritual, in thought and
communication, and in invention) [At another time in the week however,
it might be interesting to see video footage of an athletics’ or gymnastics’
event, or a ballet or some circus acrobatics to show how some people work to
develop and refine their movement skills.]
2. Children could be asked to record their findings in a suitable way.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
The children will have cause to wonder at God’s wisdom as well as learning
facts about movement.
