              The Arts flourished under the Tudors; the Renaissance was affecting European music,
               painting, sculpture and architecture at this time.

                Henry V11 encouraged French and Italian artists and philosophers to visit England
                 bringing new ideas.


              William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was a brilliant playwright and poet.

            1.  Review previous lessons.


            2.  Read a section from a well-known play or poem written by Shakespeare. Ask the
                children if they know anything about the author of the play. Show them some more
                books/plays written by Shakespeare. Eg A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It,
