a cart, Alonzo grabs his laptop, and straps it on his left shoulder. Immediately, Yvette
reaches over, hugs and kisses him as tears bubble in her eyes.
A few seconds, she disengages; and, “have a safe trip Dad.”
“Thanks, Sweetheart.”
Half-heartedly, Yvette gaits back to the Jeep. She opens the door, climbs in,
and shuts the door. However, she waits and looks on as Alonzo collects tags to his
luggage from the Airline Attendant. Suddenly, the front passenger window rolls
down. She utters, “I love you, Dad,” waving.
“I love you more, Sweetheart,” with a smile as he walks through and
disappears behind the sliding doors -- on his way to catch a 06:50 Hours flight.
“I love you much, Dad.” She cranks the ignition, puts the gear in reverse, and
looks to the left; then slowly pulls out and drives off -- travelling northwest. Like
Alonzo -- Yvette is conflicted -- including expressions of concerns about her father’s
physical and mental health wellbeing. Even so, he always comports himself and
seems to be taking the tumultuous situation with stride; Yvette, though mere
seventeen, could tell her father’s worried, and that his in opportune trip to Punta
Cana is also weighing on him. But all she could do is be there for him and supportive.
Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
GATE B: WAITING AREA; 07:03 HOURS.
The aircraft touches down and gradually taxis the runway to the Airline’s
port.
