After the exchange of pleasantries, Miguel takes the luggage to the rear of the
Shuttle while Alonzo climbs on board. Soon, a middle-age Couple arrives just as
Miguel tries closing the luggage compartment. Miguel turns, takes and glares at their
documents; then helps the Couple with their two-piece matching luggage.
“Thank you, Miguel,” the middle-age woman expresses their appreciation.
Turning to her husband, “Let’s go honey.”
“You’re welcome, Mrs. Matthews.” Next, he extends his right hand, takes Mrs.
Matthews’ left hand, and assists her onto the shuttle; then waits for her husband to
climb on. He closes the door, and steps away -- heading to the driver’s side.
Before starting the shuttle, while seated at the driver’s seat, he turns slightly
over his right shoulder, “gentlemen and lady, please make sure your seat belt is
securely fastened. Thank you.” Soon afterwards he transports the tourists to their
destination.
A little under 8 miles away from Punta Cana International Airport, Miguel
begins to decelerate, slowly makes an exit, and drives past a densely populated
parking lot; then pulls to a stop under a porte-cochere (a permanent canopy
projecting over the hotel’s entrance). Miguel kills the ignition, glares to his right,
retracts the key, and unlocks the doors; then descends from the shuttle.
“Go ahead to the Front Desk … I got the luggage,” in a Spanish accent.
“Are you sure, Miguel?”
“Yes … I got this, Alonzo.”
