Alonzo’s smartphone starts ringing. He glances at the caller ID, smiles, and
answers. “This is Alonzo Thomas.”
“Mr. Thomas … It’s Todd. We’re here.”
“Fabulous. I’m heading down to the garage ---”
“Okay, Mr. Thomas,” staring at the huge, attractive and imposing 4-bedroom
home with a three-car garage, and a picture-perfect landscape in one of the newer,
affluent sub-divisions of Lafayette.
The far-right garage door opens, slowly recedes, and Alonzo emerges; then
unlocks the GL450 4MATIC SUV. He climbs on, turns the ignition, reverses a tad bit,
and carefully drives into the garage. And he kills the ignition. “Fellas, it’s good to see
you again.”
“Good morning, Mr. Thomas.”
“Good morning and happy Sunday, fellas.” Shaking Todd’s hand, “hope the
move wasn’t too tasking.”
“No, Sir. Everything’s as expected.”
“So, how are we going to do this … Garage or the front door?”
“Is it alright Romeo backs into the driveway?”
“Most definitely.”
