Student Ambassador Program
A Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity for students who are
both enthusiastic and committed to representing State University at various
capacity -- including, but not limited to, institutional awareness, peer-to-peer
relations, and philanthropy.
The purpose of an Expansion of SU Foundation Reach with A Student
Ambassadors’ Program is for SU students to familiarize themselves with the SU
Foundation; know what the Foundation does, develop an understanding as to why
they should stay involved, and become habitual donors by the time they graduate.
The rationale -- according to Alonzo -- SU students are our best development
assets for the following reasons:
a) They connect with prospects;
b) Increase peer-to-peer giving awareness;
c) Act as compelling institutional spokespeople; and
d) Express the most powerful gratitude to most appreciated donors.
While developing students into effective fund development ambassadors
requires well-defined goals and thorough training; however, SU Foundation has an
advantage because of our current, resourceful and energetic student workers are
already getting some of the training needed to harness our students’ potential as well
as be able to pair their skills with SU Foundation’s vision and hence, support their
