law. A letter from the employee’s commanding officer is required
to establish the dates of duty.
VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY RESPONDER LEAVE
Employees who are volunteer firefighters, reserve peace officers,
or emergency rescue personnel will be allowed to take temporary
unpaid leaves of absence for the purpose of performing
emergency duties. Employees who are volunteer emergency
responders should inform their supervisor so that they are aware
that the employee may need to take time off for emergency duty.
When an employee is called to an emergency and needs to miss
work, they should alert their supervisor before doing so whenever
possible.
JURY SERVICE LEAVE
If an employee is summoned to report for jury duty, they will be
granted a leave of absence when they notify and submit a copy of
the original summons for jury duty to their supervisor or manager.
The Company reserves the right to request that they seek to be
excused from or request postponement of jury service if the
absence from work would create a hardship to the Company.
Any fees received for jury duty, including travel fees, are to be
retained by the employee. Employees are to report to work on
any day, or portion thereof that is not actually spent in the
performance of jury service. For each week of jury duty, a
certificate of jury service must be certified by the Court and filed
with the Company no later than Wednesday of the following
week.
