POTTERS FESTIVAL
The opening evening was a fun “get to know everyone”
bowls drive was won by Dennis Crabtree, Jackie John-
son, Pam Clarridge & John Hillier, with each getting a box
of Choccies.
In the Singles quarter finals there were wins for
Tony Gepp, 11 - 4 over Sheila Hillier; Dennis Crabtree, 7
- 2 over Keith Darvill; Jack Rutley, 9 - 6 over Dave Taylor
and Joan Taylor by 6 - 5 in a very hard fought match.
Joan had an easier time in her semi with an 8 - 2 result
over Jack Rutley. meanwhile, Tony Gepp got the better
of Dennis Crabtree by seven shots to four. In the final,
Tony kept up this good form beating Joan Taylor 8 - 2 with
Singles finalist Joan with ends unplayed.

Mary Chadd & Brian McGovern started with a sur-
prisingly comfortable 8 - 3 Pairs quarter final win over Bob
Cousins & Margaret Hastings. Mark & Sue Hollis beat Der-
rick & Sheila Oxley 11 - 3. Also making their way through the
quarters, Mary & Richard Paddy beat Keith & Sue Darvill 8
- 4. The final game of the round was a really tight affair. June
Dickens & Cheryl Crabham went into the last end 8 - 9 down
to Jean Girling & Dennis Crabtree but June & Cheryl scored
a two to win 10 - 9.
In the semi’s June & Cheryl had an easier time facing
Mary & Richard Paddy, running out 10 - 6 from 5 - 6 down
with three ends to play. In the other semi Sue & Mark Hollis
were 10 - 5 up and seem to have the game in the bag but
Mary Chadd & Brian McGivern had other ideas and eventu-
ally levelled the match at 10 - 10 on the last end and in the
sudden death finish scored a single for an 11 - 10 win.
The final against June Dickens & Cheryl Crabham was
another tight affair at 10 all with just the last end to play and
Seated Pairs Champions Brian a three gave Mary & Brian the championship victory.

finalists Cheryl Crabham Givern, Adrianne & Michael West beat Jill Oakes, Brian &
& June Dickens Audrey Fowler 9 - 2; Sheila King, Derek & Sheila Oxley
coasted home 11 - 4 over Gerry Haggar, Neil & Gwen
Norris; Michael Rice, Robert Hayward & Harry Brown
also had an easy passage by 11 - 3. In the final match
of the round, Jack Rutley, Hilary & Michael King-Jones
were 5 - 7 down going into the last round against Clive
Kingswood, Patricia Cruickshank & John Wardle but
a stunning three gave Jack Hilary & Michael an 8 - 7
victory.
In the semi-finals they couldn’t keep up this form
and lost 10 - 4 to Michael Rice, Robert Hayward &
Harry Brown. Sheila King, Derek & Sheila Oxley took
two singles from 6 all for an 8 - 6 win over Brian Mc-
Givern, Adrianne & Michael West.
Triples Champions Michael Rice, Unfortunately for Sheila, Derek & Sheila they
Robert Hayward & Harry Brown met an in form trio in Michael Rice, Robert Hayward
with finalists Derek Oxley, Sheila King & Harry Brown, who opened up with a three a four and
& Sheila Oxley two singles to lead 9 - 1, eventually winning 12 - 6.
