           The third round saw a really hard fought and tight game with Ireland getting home over           21
           England 37 - 35. Wales finished off the opening days play with a 50 - 21 win over Scotland,
           helped by a 20 - 3 from A. Evans rink, with the other three games fairly tight.
                 The second days plays started with a reverse game for Wales as Ireland beat them 36 - 29.
           England bounced back from their first defeat with a 63 - 20 result over Scotland, with Steve Bur-
           rows, Peter Fautley, Callum Beale & Edward Sawbridge weighing in with a 25 - 2.  The fifth game
           in the 2-day series saw Scotland buried by Ireland with a 11 - 17 result with Karl Bradshaw, Brian
           McAlary, William Boggs, Glen Smith romping home 25 - 2.  England were pushed by Wales but
           got home 37 - 27 in the end.
                 The big clash of the final round was England v Ireland with the winner taking the “A” team
           championship. Ireland won 2 of the four rinks and drew a third but the 12 - 4 game from Keith
           Hawkins, Elise Daniell, Barry Keirle & Nicky Bartlett enable England to win 34 - 30, winning just
           one rink of the four. Wales finished off with a 51 - 36 win over Scotland, with the main difference
           a 14 - 4 result from A. Morgan’s rink.

           Chris Willies opened up well for England with a 20 - 9 win over Wales. Ireland’s Trevor Crawford
           also well with a 22 - 11 win over his Scottish opponent.  The second round saw both players pro-
           gressing with good results. Crawford beat his Welsh opponent 19 - 9 whilst Willies beat his Scottish
           opponent with a crushing 24 - 4 victory.  The stage was thus set for a winners takes all game with
           England facing Ireland.  A cracking game ensued in which Willies led 15 - 14 with three ends to
           go bit in the end Crawford won all three ends to win 19 - 15 and with it the “A” team Singles Title.
           The other game saw Wales take third spot with an 18 - 12 win over Scotland.

           The Welsh Pair of R. Palmer & B. Jackson opened up with a 15 - 11 victory over England whilst
           Ireland’s Davy Walker & Martin McAleese beat Scotland 15 - 11.  The second round saw the Irish
           Pair beat Wales 19 - 11. England bounced back with Peter Roberts & Dave Studden beating Scot-
           land 20 - 11. The third and final round was still an open event but the Welsh pair romped home
           24 - 8 over Scotland, leaving Ireland with the huge task of beating England by a large score. In
           the end they did beat England but only by 15 - 13.

           In a well contested tournament, Ireland’s  Aidan Corrigan, Stephen McMahon & Terry Mulholland
           started with a 14 - 9 victory over England, whilst Wales edged past Scotland 14 - 13.
