           In the over 55's Moortown's Tommy Quinn and John Joe O'Neill could not repeat their ex-           23
           cellent qualifying form losing out to club mates Malachy O'Neill and Colum O'Hagan.
                 In the ladies it was a double for Cookstown Parochial's Brigid Davidson with qualification in
           the singles and triples where she was accompanied by Denise McHugh and Melissa Hanlon. in
           the pairs last Year’s IIBA runners up Maghera's Shiela Anderson and Mildred Martin won to have
           another go at claiming the overall title. St Swithins Andrew Evans beat Moneymore's Robert Paul
           to win junior singles.

                                                                                This year's Irish Club Champi-
                                                                                onship, sponsored by the Gal-
                                                                                way Bay Hotel, was held over 2
                                                                                qualifying Saturdays. Last sea-
                                                                                son's winners and winners on 5
                                                                                occasions,           Cookstown
                                                                                Parochial.  were  expected  to
                                                                                strongly  contest  this  year's
                                                                                event but as often happens the
                                                                                unexpected took place.
                                                                                       Parochial  got  off  to  a
                                                                                shaky start with a narrow and
                                                                                fortunate win over Michelin and
                                                                                fortunate  but  came  through
           comfortably in the next 2 games.
                 In their section final they met newcomers, Sydenham and were comprehensively beaten with
           one rink 17 - 1 down, one 15 - 1 up and the other 14 - 3 down. In the second section Loughenreagh
           came through comfortably.
