              Highcliffe-on-Sea Short Mat Bowls Club
              Highcliffe-on-Sea Short Mat Bowls Club
Highcliffe Short Mat Bowls Club was formed in 1995 when a Methodist Church member
Peter Boustred purchased a mat and equipment which he was reimbursed once the club
             became established.
Currently we have 4 mats of which 3 are in regular use and as a means of easing
the workload when rolling mats up in 2008 with the assistance of Lottery Funding an elec-
tric machine was purchased along with two new mats. We hold 3 sessions a week at The
Highcliffe Methodist Church Hall, Lymington Road, Highcliffe, Mondays 7.15 pm to 9.30
pm which is recognised as Club Night where dress code of Grey below the waist and
Club Royal Blue Polo Shirts are worn, but is optional. We have a Thursday afternoon ses-
sion 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm which is ideal for beginners and an evening session 7.00 pm to
9.30 pm and at these sessions casual dress is worn.
We try to encourage new members to come and give the game a go and have bowls
which they may use for a trial period without the expense of purchasing new bowls when
starting, experience is not required and the game is soon picked up. The only stipulation
we apply is Flat Soled Shoes Must be worn at all times; we have a few pairs which can
             be borrowed (depending on size).
With regard to membership we would be pleased to see New Members joining and
you may come on a Thursday afternoon also on Monday or Thursday evening, please
use the Contact Page if you would like more information. We will be pleased to hear from
             you.
Currently we have two teams of registered players "Highcliffe Knights" and "High-
cliffe Castle" who are in the Dorset Association (DSMBA) and play regular games during
the league season against other Dorset Clubs. Last season Highcliffe Knights were run-
ners up in Division 2 and are promoted to Division One for the 2018 / 19 season. Highcliffe
Castle finished fifth in Division 3 and stay in that Division for the 2018 / 19 season. Reg-
istered league players can also play in Dorset Competitions and ESMBA Competitions.
