35 teams competed in 7 groups with the win-
ners and runner's up from each group pro-
gressing to the knockout rounds plus the 2
best third placed teams.
In Group 1, What's My Name were clear
winners of the group, taking all four games
and leaving the rest to fight it out for second
place, which went to Bowlder Dash, on 4
points. In Group 2, Norfolk 'N Chance had a
clean sweep of wins to comfortably top the
Winners Norfolk ‘N Chance group while 5 points was enough to get

Scrambled Legs through in second.
In Group 3, For Oops Next Time it turned out to be oops this time as they won all their
games to finish in first place, while Sadway's 5 points was enough for second and Cant Wont
Shant were through in third on 4 points. In Group 4, A Team's 3 wins saw them safely through
while Finchingfield with 4 points made it through by a single shot.
Group 5 saw The Repair Men won three out
of their four games to win the group while Jack and
Bowl were narrowly the best of 3 teams who fin-
ished on 4 points. In Group 6, Hoggards 2 won
their first 3 games and had the group won before
they had played their final one, while two wins and
a draw was sufficient for a runner-up spot for Here
There Nowhere.
In Group 7, ICI comfortably won their four
games to finish top, Still Rocking and Rolling lost
just Hoggards once and 'Er Him and Me's 4 points
and 36 shots also saw them through. Finalists Hoggards

Round 1 of the Knockout Rounds, Scrambled
Legs hung on to beat Whats My Name 8-6, Norfolk 'N Chance comfortably beat Cant Wont
Shant 8-2, 'Er Him and Me squandered an early lead to lose 6-4 to Oops Next Time, A Team
edged a 5-3 win over Jack and Bowl, Here There Nowhere resisted a late charge to beat The
Repair Men 8-6, Hoggards 2 had a comfortable 9-3 win over Finchingfield, Sadway had to work
hard to beat ICI 8-4 and Still Rocking and Rolling romped to a 14-2 win over Bowlder Dash.
At the Quarter final stage, Still Rocking and Rolling had to withdraw owing to illness (don't
worry everything was fine), putting Hoggards 2 through, after a slow start Scrambled Legs came
through to beat Oops Next Time 8-3, Norfolk 'N Chance ran out to a substantial 23-0 win over
A Team, Sadway pulled off a last end 5-4 win over Here There Nowhere.
In the Semi-Finals, Norfolk 'N Chance led after end 2 against Scrambled Legs and never
let go after that, winning 7-4. Sadway came from 5-2 behind against Hoggards 2 to lead 6-5
going into the last end, only to then drop 2 on the last end to lose 7-6.
In the Final, Norfolk 'N Chance (Sam Runnacles, Matt Frost & Stephen Frost) v Hoggards
2 (Ann Blundell, Chris Nunn & Sheila Cocksedge). on the opening end Sam Runnacles saves
his team in what was a pretty ragged first end, to take one to lead 1-0. It wasn’t much better this
time as Sam moves the jack for two and a 3-0 lead. On end 3 it's Sam once again but this time
he's giving the end away for 3-1. On end 4, the jack moved into the corner with Ann Blundell
winning the drawing battle to take 2 and level the final at 3-3. End saw Sam Runnacles holding
3 woods surrounding the jack before he bowls. Ann Blundell can't hit the head and Sam makes
it 4 shots and a 7-3 lead. On the next end, Ann has some work to do, being 5 down as she
comes to bowl, but all she can do is get it down to 3 and it's all over with Norfolk N’ Chance win-
ning 10 - 3.
