Sixteen bowlers from the Coastal League met for the League
Singles Competition, held at Hemsby Village Hall. In the Round
Robin Stage, Sandra Tungate from Bradwell Dynamos was the
winner in Group 1, Derek Sheldrake from Woodbastwick Owls
was the winner of Group 2, Mike Harvey from Bradwell Acorns
won Group 3, and Peter Jablonowski came through as winner
of Group 4.
In the Quarter Finals, Derek Sheldrake won his match 8-
4 against Lyn Moore of Hemsby Harvesters. Mat 2 saw a very
tight match between Sandra Tungate and Harvester’s Trish Finalist Sandra Tungate
Finalist Sandra Tungate
Wooden, which went to an extra end, with Sandra Tungate and winner
and winner
emerging as winner. Mat 3 saw a close game which ended Derek Sheldrake

with Peter Jablonowski beating John Beadle of Hemsby
Beachcombers 7-5.
On Mat 4, Alan Marker from Beachcombers had a comfortable win 10-3 against Mike Har-
vey. The two Woodbastwick Owls players Derek Sheldrake and Peter Jablonowski were drawn
against each other in the Semi-finals, which produced another close match, Derek Sheldrake
just pipping his fellow Owl by one shot. Sandra Tungate won the other Semi-final, beating Alan
Marker 8-5.
An excellent Final was enjoyed by all the supporters, it could have gone to either bowler,
but in the end Derek Sheldrake of Woodbastwick Owls came away with a well-deserved winner’s
trophy. The photos show Terry Nash, Chairman of the Coastal League presenting the Trophies
to Derek Sheldrake and Sandra Tungate.
Hawksworth lands second county title with Mann
Wymondham's Chris Mann and Deaf Sports' Laura
Hawksworth claimed the Norfolk pairs title seeing off Morgan
Warnes of Horsford BC and Gary Best of Bob Carter in a
fiercely competitive final. For Mann this was his third pairs
title with three different players and for Hawksworth is now
her second county title after her mixed fours win last season.
After four ends the final was locked at 3-3 but the next
two ends changed the
shape of the match with a
single then maximum four
scored by Mann and
Hawksworth gave them
an 8-3 lead. This
prompted Gary to swap
Pairs Winners with Morgan but only two
Pairs Winners
Chris Mann and singles emerged for them
Chris Mann and
Laura Hawksworth over the next two ends as
Laura Hawksworth
a brace claimed by Hawksworth had seen them win the
match with an end to spare as they led 10-5.
It was a fitting end that had seen Laura claim multiple

shots in the run up to the final and showed her range of shots Pairs Finalists

In the third fourth playoff Simon Warnes of Horsford BC Morgan Warnes
and Keith Cooke of Halvergate beat Halvergate's Kerry Greenacre and Wortwell's David Blundell
13-7 which looks to have at least secured them a nationals place for their efforts in a solid per-
formance.
