Proverbs about home
The British like to live independently in their own
houses. No wonder their favourite saying is "My home is
my fortress". They do not like to live in flats. Most of the
homes have a garden in which the British spend a lot of
time growing flowers and looking after the lawn. Many
houses are surrounded by hedges, which symbolizes the
desire of the British to protect their privacy.
The British know how to feel at home and at the
same time respect the home life of others. The house is an
Englishman fortress, where he is able to escape not only
from unwanted visitors, but also from annoying worries.
