Native American Initiative District 5420 Service Impact Report
Sadly, the largest and most important health need in the Navajo and Hopi tribal communities is for a clean water supply.
Currently residents haul water in pickup trucks from long distances and in the face of COVID-19 the lack of good
potable water inhibited their ability to recover from the pandemic. It is recognized this problem won’t be resolved quickly
but the path to solving this serious issue needs to get underway. It is the desire of the “Coalition” to pursue securing a
stable water supply for the residents in this area.
In the meantime, there is still much to be done to help our neighbors and friends on reservations in District 5420. So
– although the event will be held in RY2021-22 – Rotarians from Logan to Blanding and Salt Lake to St. George are
invited to bring paint clothes, gloves, Halloween candy, and other supplies and join us for a long “service above self”
weekend to renovate the Halchita Community Center … and to give us another opportunity to “Serve to Change Lives.”
Come one, come all on October 28-31, 2021.
