                       Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence by a person or
                       group. The goal is to intimidate or coerce societies or governments.
                       Terrorism is often used for political or ideological reasons. These
                       attacks can take many forms. They could happen anytime and in any
                       place.
                       Terrorism thrives on fear. By planning how to respond to a terrorist
                       attack, you can greatly improve your chances of survival. You can
                       also lessen the impact of the attack by reducing the fear in the after-
                       math.


                       If a Terrorist Attack has been Identified:
              Protocols   •   STAY CALM and keep the individuals you are supporting


                           CALM!

                       •
                           Keep yourself in tune to a local television and/or radio chan-
                           nel.

                       •   Shelter in place until the threat is over; unless the threat is in
                           your immediate surroundings and you have been told to evacu-
                           ate.
                       •   Follow all local authority instructions.

                       •   Report your conditions to your immediate supervisor at least
                           every 30 minutes until the imminent threat is over.
                       •   If in a vehicle and unable to get indoors quickly and safely, then
                           pull over to the side of the road. Stop your vehicle in the safest
                           place possible.
                       •   Stay where you are until you receive notification that it is safe
                           to get back on the road.
                       •   Always continue to update your condition with your supervi-
                           sor until the threat is over.
