The First Anniversary
CynTHia sCoTT Author’s Note: In the November/December 2020 issue of American
Jails magazine, an article was published about an inmate newslet-
sTepHanie Ruane ter that was introduced to the inmate population of the Corrections
Division of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office (New Jersey) on
Jason MCCauley April 20, 2020. A year later, we celebrated the first anniversary of
that newsletter and counted our blessings on how the newsletter has
impacted the inmates who participated with their poetry, artwork,
and Ted fReeMan stories, or personal experiences.
