Appendix 3: Five Year Strategic Plan
Year Three: 2021-2022
Year 3 continues to focus on assessing the effects of the cost containment measures and the
wellness plan previously implemented. We would also introduce a benefits health fair in October to
highlight benefits, area providers and the wellness activities.
Cost Containment
Continue to review expected utilization based on group demographics
Determine if Francis Parker School is a good candidate for self-funding or a captive, review
funding options and
Review Consumer Driven Health Plans, motivators, perception, education requirements and
analyze if consumerism is working in the health plans
Continue to review health and welfare plan against benchmark data including other
education industry employer plans, and other employer plans on a national and regional
basis to help guide plan design and cost-sharing decisions
Continue to compare SmartBen to other benefits enrollment systems
Wellness/Well-being
Implement an achievement program component of the wellness program. Achievement
includes activities employees must complete in order to qualify for a premium discount (or
removal of $50 penalty)
Engagement will include not only health assessments and biometric screenings but
challenges such as weight loss, sugar busters, nutrition, obtaining annual physicals, etc.
Engagement program will include and add on top of Years 1 and 2 additional requirements
of participation in risk based coaching compliance and achieving improved health outcomes
and health bonus points and may additionally include health goal maintenance/
improvement
Employee only assessment plan comprising both health assessment and biometric
screening which will be weighted to assist and benchmark current employee populations
overall health and activity level
Continue tobacco cessation program to include employees and spouses.
Add incentives for healthy behavior, extra day off, recognition within company, events
Review company sites to increase awareness on a healthier workplace, such as healthy
lunch availability, lunch room cleanliness, and healthy choice vending machines
Consider increasing value and impact of incentives for achievement results-based goals set
Carriers to provide a minimum of $5,000 annually to contribute to wellness program costs
Employee Communication
Update and refresh in-depth and informational employee benefit guide to include more
detail of the benefit program in detail
Continue the “Know Your Benefits” bimonthly email campaign
Host the annual Health Fair in October
Communicate to ensure employees understand the connection between wellness and
benefit costs
