EXPRESSING MONEY IN WORDS AND IN FIGURES
When we talk of money, we mean rupees and paise together. To write these

together in a symbolic form, we separate them by a point ( ). This point is called
the decimal point.
The number written on the left side of the decimal point denotes rupees and
the number on the right side denotes paise.
Let us write 75 rupees and 60 paise in words and figures.

In words: Rupees seventy-five and sixty paise
In figures: ` 75.60

Express 0 rupees in words as well as figures.

In figures: ` 0.00 These zeros denote that there are no paise.

The paise part on the right of the decimal point is always expressed as a
2-digit numeral. For example, 7 paise is written as 07 paise.
