2017 OSCO FOUR YEAR SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Lena Fajardo

Butler University - College of Pharmacy

In the past year, Lena has been instrumental in volunteering for the Butler
University Community Outreach Pharmacy. This program offers medical
services such as general medicine, dentistry and pharmacy to underserved
families in Indianapolis, Indiana. Witnessing how Pharmacists provide the
most accessible healthcare options for patients solidified Lena’s plans of
attending Pharmacy school. At Butler University, Lena is a Historian for Phi
Delta Chi, a Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, as well as Secretary for the
Equestrian Club. After graduation, Lena’s goal is to become a Pharmacist with
Jewel-Osco, promoting a clinical role within the patient care system.

Sophia Ruffino

Ferris State University, College of Pharmacy

Sophia is an active volunteer while on campus, throughout her community
and abroad. Her desire to improve people’s quality of life is evident during
her mission trip to Guatemala where she volunteered her time to care for
disadvantaged patients. Sophia describes this time as being “the most
moving experience of her life.” Her service will forever impact how she
serves future communities and their patients. Sophia plans to pursue a
career at Jewel-Osco as a Pharmacist where she can continue serving others
and making a difference. 34
