WORK EXPERIENCE
During the last week of term 1, Grade 10 students participated in the Careers Department Work Experience
program. Students coordinate a work placement and ‘go to work’ during the week long program. The opportunity
provides students with a chance to try different jobs and develop workplace skills in various organizations around
the UAE. The program also assists students with thinking about their future career and university options, and
subject choices as they move into Grades 11 & 12. All Grade 10 students successfully completed their experience
at around 40 different workplaces throughout Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. Students attended organizations and
companies such as the Gulf Today newspaper, VISS Primary school and the I.T. and P.E. Departments, engineering
firms, hospitals, the American University of Sharjah and Emirates NBD.
Students found the week to be an interesting one, making the most of the opportunities to improve their
technological, communication and industry knowledge. We are very proud of the feedback that we received about
the students, who were worthy ambassadors of VISS, demonstrating their maturity and adaptability across a range
of workplace tasks.
A massive thanks to Mr Scott and the grade 10 team - work experience would not have been possible without their
